

Summer Melt Initiative at Roosevelt High School
On June 18th Promesa Boyle Heights teamed up with Roosevelt High School to work on summer melt initiatives and to promote a high school-to-college transition support system. After receiving an information session from Elizandro Umana of the College Promise office at ELAC, RHS academic counselors along with PBH Community School staff made phone calls and held in-person check-ins with students that were on their way to enrolling into a 2-4-year college program. Close The Gap PASSES UNANIMOUSLY!!!
On June 12th, 2018 LAUSD Board Members unanimously voted to pass the "Closing the Gap by 2023! Resolution." Mery is a resident leader with the Parks and Open Spaces Committee. She resides in East Los Angeles with her partner and two children, her six-year-old son and three-year-old daughter. She had been participating as a parent volunteer at the Amanecer Primary Center in East Los Angeles for the past couple of years.
