A Day of Health & Wellness Celebrations with the East L.A. Community

On June 2nd over 300 East L.A residents celebrated Health & Wellness at Salazar Park. This fun-filled day is the culmination of a resident-led effort to strengthen connections, foster parent leadership, and improve access to parks and wellness supports.

The community resource fair was envisioned and planned by Best Start East LA resident leaders in partnership with Promesa Boyle Heights, InnerCity Struggle, First 5 LA, and Proyecto Pastoral. Los Angeles County Board of Supervisor Hilda Solis and the LA County Department of Parks & Recreation also helped make the event possible.

Children had the opportunity to play and engage in dynamic activities led by resident leaders, including hat making, do it yourself slime, creating your own succulent planter and more.

Families received critical resources and enjoyed a day filled with live music and dancing.
