Paulina grew up in Boyle Heights and believes in the power of collective action and community as critical to sustained change and transformation. It is this belief that drives her commitment to support families and students in their journey navigating the education system. Paulina began her career as a founding teacher of the first charter school in the Silicon Valley and has held various roles in education including Assistant Principal and Residential Faculty member.

 

Throughout her career, Paulina has held families and communities at the forefront of her work. As Associate Director of Operations at KIPP LA, she was not only responsible for managing new school development ensuring operations had the infrastructure and capacity necessary to sustain growth and drive academic results across the region but also ensured that all schools had an atmosphere that was accessible and inviting for families.

 

Prior to KIPP, Paulina worked for The Broad Center as Deputy Director on the Alumni and Network Team, building professional development opportunities that continued to build community across the network. Paulina holds an MBA from the Lorry I. Lokey School of Business, an M. Ed. from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education and a BA from Wesleyan University in Government and Latin American Studies.

 

Paulina also serves on the board of Self-Help Graphics & Art and is a traditional Aztec Dancer.
